Vote no to AV on May 5th 2011, and vote (once) for the Conservative Party in the local elections!

6th May 2010:

Conservatives Abroad Madrid will be staging a  general election night reception at the Spanish Popular Party HQ in Madrid. The event will be presided by Esperanza Aguirre, President of the Madrid regional government, amongst other guests. Wide coverage will be given in the press and TV.

March / April 2010: Madrid

We are currently in the midst of our general election campaign setting up voter registration/ campaign tables and giving  campaign speeches in Madrid amongst many other activities.

We will be setting up election campaign tables in La Calle Drácena, 23 (Chamartín district ) on Sunday 11th April from 10am to 1pm outside the English speaking Roman Catholic Church of Our Lady of Mercy and in La calle Hermosilla outside the Anglican Church of St. George on Sunday 14th March. Both events were a success for our branch giving out Electoral Commission voter registration forms to a number of British residents in Madrid.

Our voter registration/general election campaign table outside Our Lady of Mercy English speaking Church Madrid Sunday 11th April, 2010.

There are an estimated 700,000 British people currently registered as residents across Spain with over 10,000 of them resident in the Community of Madrid (about 7,000 of these in the city of Madrid). These are potential expat votes which our party badly needs if current opinion polls are to be believed. Evidently the very large British expat vote here in Spain ( according to FCO estimates Spain is the fourth country in the world after Canada, Australia and the USA in the number of resident UK nationals) will play an important role in helping to decide the forthcoming British general elections.

May I remind all of our web site readers that they can download voter registration forms directly from the links given on our initial Home page to register to vote for the forthcoming general elections. The election date is 6th May. The official voter registration deadline is 20th April in this case. All voter registration forms and applications for postal or proxy votes MUST be received by this deadline day (20th April) by the Electoral Registration Officer in the constituency where you were last registered to vote in the UK.
